Andrew M. Lance has been announced today as the winner of the People’s Choice Award at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. But doubts have been raised over the future of the awards, and the Australian art industry in general following major cuts in last week’s budget.
Arts facilitators are concerned that the cuts will have a drastic impact on the development and engagement of the industry, as well as the emergence of new and young artists.
