The issue of sexism in the video game community reached a tipping point last month after outspoken feminist and gaming critic, Anita Sarkeesian, was forced to escape her home for fear of her life. The reason? Personal information regarding herself and her family being posted online by an anonymous group, along with death threats. The FBI is now investigating the case, along with a bomb threat made at a video game convention which hosted Sarkeesian earlier this year. Just where is all the hate coming from, who is perpetuating it, and why has it continued for such a long time?
