The Federal Government will introduce a parliamentary motion tomorrow to honour 60 years since the founding of Israel. At the same time, recent clashes in the Gaza strip have provoked US President George Bush to send Dick Cheney to the Middle East. His mission – to keep the “road map to peace” on track. Back home, the Australian Government’s move to honour Israel has been seen by some as evidence that the peace process in the Middle East is a one-sided affair.
