Twenty percent of Indigenous population in remote communities use Facebook as a main means of communication compare to the national average, according to recent McNair Ingenuity survey. The study shows that six in ten Indigenous adults are using Facebook on a daily basis as opposed to 42 percent of Australian adults who are on the social media network. But Professor Ellie Rennie, Deputy Director of Swinburne Institute for Social Research, argues the Elders are missing out from the online conversations.
