Despite a closure date of 2025, less than two years away, Australia’s biggest power station Eraring in the Hunter valley may have to soldier on.  Renewables have not been built fast enough to prevent potential blackouts.

Premier Chris Minns blames the previous Government, but previous Treasurer Matt Keane says the power station was uneconomic to keep going.

It is a little complicated however, as the Government does not own Eraring, Origin Energy does, and it was taken over by Canadian and US interests who are subject to a government review on foreign investment.
