Environment Ministers agree on plan to stop recycling exports

As the number of countries rejecting Australian recycling continues to climb, state and federal Environment ministers have agreed to establish a timeline to ban the export of recyclable material.

Ministers at the COAG meeting agreed any plan should reduce waste and boost the capability of recycling companies.

It comes after the recent collapse of recycling company SKM, which has forced Victorian councils to send large volumes of recycling to landfills.
