Human rights watchdog Jubilee Australia has issued a report shining a spotlight on Australia’s low-profile export credit agency, EFIC – the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation. EFIC helps Australian companies penetrate potentially unstable markets overseas, for the benefit of exporters. The statutory body is currently involved in a $16 billion development to extract liquefied natural gas from Papua New Guinea’s Southern Highlands. It is set to be the largest industrial project in the history of the Pacific.
