Dredging & sledging: Abbot Point coal port expansion

Controversial plans for expansion of Abbot Point coal port will see it become one of the worlds largest. Environment Minister Greg Hunt approved plans for further industrial development to the area that is close to the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. Environmentalists are angry at plans to dredge and dump 1.3 million cubic metres of sediment a year into the delicate ecosystem which they say will cause disaster.
