Deported American peace activist hits back at the Government
American peace activist, Scott Parkin hit the headlines last week when the Australian Government deemed him a security risk and deported him back to the U.S. Reports in The Australian newspaper today, allege Parkin was going to teach tactics of violence at his peace workshops in Melbourne, a claim that Parkin vehemently denies. Parkin spent five days in solitary confinement which he says was “boring” before being flown back to Los Angeles accompanied by 2 Australian police officers. He is now expected to foot the bill for his travel costs and detention. He says The Department of Immigration has told him he has to pay back $11,000 if he decides to return to Australia, which he thinks is a barrier set up to keep him out of the country.
