Critics say pacific free trade push a trojan horse for investor rights

At the APEC summit Julia Gillard expressed strong enthusiasm for a new push to establish a massive Pacific Free trade area. But two campaigners from overseas are currently touring Australia warning of the dangers of just such an agreement. Professor Jane Kelsey has just launced a book called “No Ordinary Deal: Unmasking the Trans-Pacific Partnership Free Trade Agreement”, and she’s touring around the country with Lori Wallach, a contributor to the book from the US-based public citizens global trade watch. They say that the agreement is not so much about free trade, as it is about rights for large international investors.
