Opposition Leader Tony Abbot today introduced his private members bill aimed at rolling back the Queensland Government’s controversial Wild Rivers legislation. The 2005 Queensland laws limit development in 10 river systems deemed environmentally valuable in the Cape and Gulf regions. But opinion remains divided about whether Abbott’s proposal would result in good outcomes for indigenous people and the environment.
