Concerns are being raised about a new mining project proposed for South Australia. The project is planned for Arckaringa Basin, located in the remote northern deserts of the state, and would include a controversial ‘coal to diesel’ processing plant. Environmentalists and scientists are concerned about the impacts this could have on groundwater, and fragile mound springs, not to mention the climate impacts of extracting large new deposits of fossil fuels.
