The South Australian government announced a trial program where returning travellers living in the state could go under home quarantine, instead of the hotel quarantine. These residents would need to use a GPS and facial-recognition technologies with an app to support police and not stretching its resources.

However, experts are concerned facial recognition is not accurate, and the multicultural community and women might be targeted inappropriately. In addition, there might be privacy breaches using this technology.
