Have you ever found yourself confused when hearing news about coal seam gas? Do you know what coal seam gas is? Have you ever wondered what on earth water has to do with an industry that is extracting gas?

This reports looks at what coal seam gas is. Coal seam gas is a relatively new industry in Australia but it has developed rapidly. In the early 1990s, the number of new wells drilled each year in Queensland was only 10, now that number has increased to 600. And the industry is spreading quickly to other states. Many Australians are concerned about coal seam gas and several groups around the country are protesting and calling for the industry to be stopped.
