Television screens have been filled with images of unrest in Wadeye the last week. But the Deputy CEO of Wadeye Tamara Council, Dale Senniger, says the problems stem from years of government failure to act. Wadeye is one of eight Indigenous communities to be included in the tri-partite Council of Australian Governments or COAG trial. The community is calling on government to honour it’s part of the agreement and release $44 million dollars it promised for infrastructure.
