Today’s COAG conference signed off on the Murray water deal. The lower lakes of the Murray is the most affected at the moment by the lack of water and people down there have been waiting and hoping for the news that an emergency water buyback would send some real water down the river. The answer is no – there will be infrastructure built to pipe water to specific areas like the Langhorne Creek winegrowing area abut the river it seems will remain dry. Alexandrina Council mayor Kym McCue said overall the community is struggling and are disappointed that the deal doesn’t help the actual health of the river.
