A senate inquiry has called for a ban on the importation, sale and use of Polyethylene Aluminium cladding in Australia. Polyethylene Aluminium cladding has a plastic centre that is highly flammable. It was this cladding that led to the disaster at London’s Grenfell Tower and a Melbourne fire in 2014.

However, there are those that say the solution lies with education and reform, not the banning of this type of cladding, as under construction codes it is already banned for being combustible.
