Concerns are again being voiced over the federal government’s cashless welfare card, this time in the remote South Australian town of Ceduna where it is about to be rolled out to around a quarter of the population. The hope is that it will reduce drug use and gambling but opponents say it is not the answer. They argue that making everyone on welfare go on the card is unnecessary and diminishes their human rights, and that rehab is the best answer for those with addiction problems.
