Kevin Rudd and Malcom Turnball agree. The Lord’s Prayer should be kept to open sessions of federal parliament. But others, including the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, would like to see the acknowledgement of non-Christian Australians in parliament, or a more universal prayer that is not exclusively Christian. NSW Greens MP Lee Rhiannon says the debate needs to be discussed at a state level as well.
