Sean Leigh teaches ancient history to school kids, and he likes to experience his subject matter first hand, which is why he went backpacking through the Middle East. He never intended to become a negotiator at checkpoints in the West Bank – it just happened. His stay in Israel was only supposed to last 2 weeks, but this all changed when he visited Ramallah and Nablus in the Occupied Territories. There Sean became involved with a non-violent Palestinian peace organisation – the International Solidarity Movement – and extended his trip for a few months.
