It’s been just a distant dream for decades, but this June, Australia will finally switch on to totally Indigenous TV for the first time. The Federal Government will contribute $48.5 million over four years from the Backing Indigenous Ability scheme to put NITV on air. NITV Board member Dot West says the new service with be launched in late June, with remote Aboriginal communities to first to receive broadcasts. Director of Television Paul Remati plans to eventually include national Indigenous new and current affairs programming, promising that from little things big thing will grow.
