Australian Birders Flocking to Citizen Science

Birdlife Australia’s annual bird count has rolled round once again, with enthusiastic birders venturing into backyards and bushland to record their sightings of feathered fauna.

The week long event gives scientists valuable data about Australia’s bird populations, as well as getting everyday citizens involved and enthusiastic about environmental research.

We investigated how these citizen science projects can gather information scientists don’t have the resources for.
