According to The Australia Talks National Survey, 89% of Australians believe “most politicians will lie if they feel the truth will hurt them politically.” The ABC surveyed over 500 Australians across all electorates, asking topical questions ranging from personal hygiene to climate change. What united respondents most was general distrust in government, and the need to hold politicians accountable.
