Art project gives immigration detainees a voice

Ten years on from the Children Overboard affair that led to the Howard government’s decision to adopt the Pacific Solution, an art program at Villawood Detention Centre in western Sydney is seeking to humanize immigration detainees. With no previous formal art training, immigration detainees were encouraged to pick up a paintbrush or a pen to tell their own stories.
