Afghan journalist, Sayad Parwez Kambaksh, has been sentenced to death in the Northern province of Balkh. Kambaksh received the sentence from the three-panel judge, but was not represented by a lawyer. He received the sentence after several students complained about a paper he brought into a class at university which questioned the role of women in Islam. Media activists are outraged and believe it to be a gross violation of free speech.
