Just over a month ago, Narendra Modi won the elections in India, becoming the 15th Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy. Some look on this with optimism, especially given his record as Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, but others are skeptical and worried about Modi’s links to the paramilitary Hindu nationalist group (RSS), which has been involved in anti-Muslim violence in India.
