The McClure review into welfare was released on Sunday and in it along with an overhaul of Australia’s entire welfare system were proposals to the Disability Support Pension. The review by Patrick McClure has suggested 75 payment categories should be turned into four – including working age payment, family payment, the aged pension, and disability payment. One of the more controversial suggestions is to only allow people with permanent disabilities to receive the disability support pension.
