Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom have announced a new AUKUS project to develop underwater drones by 2027.
Defence Minister Richard Marles joined his US and UK counterparts on May 30 to unveil the plan, alongside plans to streamline Australia’s submarine acquisition process and reduce costs.
Days later, an independent public inquiry into the AUKUS agreement was announced, appointing former MP Peter Garrett as Lead Commissioner.
