“Festival of Peace” unites anti-AUKUS campaigners in a push for sovereignty

A public inquiry into AUKUS is taking place here in Adelaide today – it’s one of several hearings planned around Australia.

Meanwhile, like minds will join for a conference later this month, organised under the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network.

The theme, “It’s Time to Break Free From the US,” centres on ideas around peace and independence, foreign policy, the AUKUS agreement and Australia’s $368 billion commitment to nuclear submarines – a deal hugely criticised by locals.

The conference will also host US filmmaker and journalist, Abby Martin, showcasing the 2026 documentary Earth’s Greatest Enemy.
