The Federal government announced the biggest reforms to the employment services system the country has seen in decades, claiming it’s a once-in-a-generation-overhaul.
The $312 million investment follows a scathing parliamentary review, with proposals set to implement a structural shakeup to Workforce Australia and JobSeeker.
According to Employment Minister Amanda Rishworth, the new proposal will focus on individual needs through a tiered system, but not everyone agrees.
Advocates are skeptical about these reforms, concerned the privatised provider system and mutual obligations continue.
