Cherry picking on the Corporations Act
The Federal Greens have seized on today’s High Court backing of the Howard Government’s industrial relations laws as evidence that the government is being selective in its use of the corporations act. The Corporations Act enabled the government to federalize Australia’s industrial relations laws. But the Greens maintain that while control over workers is being nationalized, the Howard government is handing back power to the states on environmental issues. This is through amendments to Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act. WA Greens Senator, Rachel Siewert spoke with Erica Vowles and explained why she felt the Coalition was cherry picking powers available under the Corporations Act.
