The trial of Saddam Hussein has begun – and whilst the former dictator undoubtedly deserves to stand trial for his horrific crimes – some groups are concerned at the validity and legality of the judicial process. Saddam himself has refused to acknowledge the court and claims he is STILL the President of Iraq and that the panel of five judges has no right to question him.This has caused some international law experts to call into question the legality of the original invasion and what this means for the current trial. Samantha Regione spoke with Amin Saikal from the Australian National University and Doctor David Lundberg from the University of South Australia.
