Robert Fisk is the only Western journalist to have interviewed Osama Bin Laden – and he’s done it three times. Of course it was all before 9/11 although Bin Laden has requested a further interview since then. During the interviews which took place in the 1990’s Bin Laden told Fisk that he hoped to reduce America to a shadow of itself, but Fisk says he never dreamed at the time that he meant he would would move the conflict to American soil.
