Petrol sniffers in Aboriginal communities are paying as much as $100 for a coke can of petrol, and in some cases dealers are demanding sexual favours as a black market in sniffable petrol develops in Central Australia. Coordinator of the Central Australian Link up Service Tristan Rae says it’s not a reason to stop the rollout of non-sniffable fuel but the fuel, Opel, does need to be rolled out right across the region and money also needs to be spent on dryout facilities and youth workers in communities.
