Today, three Aussie girls are leaving Sydney and embarking on the most physical, emotional and ethical challenge of their lives. They call themselves Girls on Top and their amazing journey spans from the Andes to the Amazon. For 18 days they’ll be facing extreme weather conditions, trekking mountain regions in Northern Peru, and all in the name of fundraising for the only animal refuge in the Peruvian Amazon. Amongst the very well documented problems within the region, Girls on Top are focusing on the illegal animal trade in South America. Shuk-Wah Chung spoke to Jade Richardson, one of the 3 girls and asked her about this illegal practice.
