Drug dealer gives up and speaks out
The debate over the legalisation of marijuana in Australia remains unresolved. With plenty of research work behind both sides of the debate, pot advocates claim that the drug is harmless, while those against legalisation of the drug claim it can cause long-term medical problems. Well, we at 2SER thought we’d give you a different perspective on the debate. A former drug dealer, going under the name of Joe, has spent the last four years growing Marijuana for living. After giving up the game, he spoke to 2SER. He claims that the ongoing debate is full of hidden agendas, and that the government should direct its fight to minimize people’s excessive use of illicit drugs. He also questions the hysteria around the debate. In 2004, a report by the “Australian Institute of Health and Welfare”, found that Marijuana use in Australia had fallen to 11% which is its lowest figure in 13 years. Joe left the country recently to start up his own legal business. He spoke with Hagar Cohen about his experiences of growing Marijuana in the Australian bush. the recoridng of his voice has been altered to protect his identity.
