An international project to recognize women’s peace work has collectively nominated 1000 women for this years Nobel Peace Prize. The 1000 women represent the work of millions of women campaigners for reconciliation, justice and safety across the world. Nine Australian women are included on the list. Only 12 women have been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize,and only one Indigenous woman. Reverend Gator – or Aunty Alex to her flock – is an Anglican Priest at St Hugh’s church, in the outer Brisbane suburb of Inala. She is one of 9 Australian women nominated on the “1000 women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005” list.
