In just under three weeks fifty thousand Israeli soldiers will force nine thousand Jewish settlers to leave the land they occupy on the Gaza Strip. It’s being hailed as a step towards peace in the Middle East and militant groups have vowed to work with the Palestinian Authority to make sure the pullout goes ahead without trouble. But revisionist Israeli historian Professor Ilan Pappe and a group of other influential academics are warning that Sharon is quite capable of turning the event into a massacre of Palestinians as they say he has repeatedly warned that there may be ‘collateral damage” during the pullout. They are calling for international observers to be present.
