A report exposing the human rights cost of Australia’s mandatory detention system was released today. Amnesty International is behind the report, which sets out the case for changes to the current contoversial system of mandatorily detaining anyone who arrives in this country without documents or by sea. Amnesty’s refugee coordinator Dr Graham Thom spoke to Annie Hastwell and says while the government’s move in recent weeks to release children from detention is a good start, there’s more to be done.
