While urban Australians continue to groan about the rise of petrol prices, some Indigenous communities are choosing to pay more for non-intoxicating fuel in a desperate attempt to reduce petrol sniffing. Known as Opal, the fuel is being subsidised by the government for some 23 remote Aboriginal communities. However, Aboriginal health groups say its not enough…they’re calling for the government to fund the introduction of Opal in all Central Australian communities.
