Kidney disease is a debilitating illness that has gripped Aboriginal communities all over the world. In Australia, the rate of kidney disease is up to thirty times higher than the national average within Aboriginal communities. Director of Northern Territory Renal Disease, Dr Matthew Jose says kidney disease affects all age groups. Dr Jose says communities have been torn apart on account of this fatal disease, which can be easily prevented through awareness. Senior elders have been relocated, moved from their communities, loved ones and all that is familiar to undertake the life-changing treatment.
