Moves recently by President George Bush to drill Alaska’s Arctic National Wildflife Refuge for oil have sparked protest by non-governmental organisations and academics. Both have argued that the Bush administration is failing to look out for America’s future. Environmentalists are saying that the plans to drill the untouched area of Alaska, also known as the ANWR, will have devastating impacts on the ecological environment, while experts in oil production are saying the Bush administration has failed to implement policies which will counteract the impact of shortened oil supplies in the near future.
