The SA Film Festival winds up today, but the state government has come under fire because it didn’t feature one film by local indigenous filmmakers. Instead, funding for films about Aboriginal people and issues is being given to non-indigenous filmmakers. Democrats Aboriginal Affairs spokeswoman Kate Reynolds says this discrepancy is inexcusable. David Wilson and Albert Lovegrove-Buckskin from South Australian Aboriginal film organisation Yaitya Makkitura say the talents of Aboriginal filmmakers are being ignored.
