A turbulent year for Queensland Minister Liddy Clark came to a dramatic end last night with her resignation from State Cabinet. Two airfares from Townsville to the Indigenous community of Palm Island in the state’s north are behind the downfall of the former Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy. Ms Clark’s resignation comes after the Crime and Misconduct Commission found she had lied to the public about the decision to pay for the airfares of Murrandoo Yanner and Brad Foster. The CMC also found that Premier Peter Beattie knew about the airfare funding decision in advance.
