The government is on the brink of getting its carbon pricing through the parliament. Former Liberal Party leader John Hewson has joined a campaign in support of the legislation.

Hewson says that as things now stand the opposition will win the next election by campaigning against the carbon tax – but he supports the carbon pricing package.Hewson says that action is needed urgently, and a carbon price is the best way to make the essential transition to a low emissions future.Other supporters of the “Say Yes campaign” today planted thousands of messages on the lawns outside parliament house urging MPs to support the carbon pricing legislation.
