Yemen, like Iraq is a collection of tribal groupings that seem to be continually jostling for power. Under the rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, there appeared to be a veneer of stability, but this has crumbled recently with mountain based Houthi’s taking control of the capital Saana’a. Previously fighting sunni Al Quaeda in the North, the shia Houthi’s have control of the capital but not the rest of the country.
