Any day now Iranian woman Sakineh Ashtiani will be taken from her gaol cell, wrapped in a white shroud, buried up to the chest and stoned to death. She’s lucky in that thanks to the internet and the efforts of her children her story has become known all over the world, but unlucky in that even a formal protest by the European Union hasn’t made any difference to her fate. Natasha Stojanovich is Australian president of Reprieve, a group that protests the death penalty all over the world.
