The Work For the Dole program has been expanded under the coalition government. Anyone under 50 on the dole for longer than 6 months must take part. But is the 1.5 billion dollars required to administer the scheme really money well spent? Participants in the scheme and the one study done into its effectiveness agree that its aim doesn’t seem to be to foster new skills or provide a pathway to real work.
