Today Independent Senator Nick Xenophon and campaign group GetUp have used Woolworths Limited’s Annual General Meeting to push for the company to change its stance on pokies reform.

The Senator has branded the company “the pokies people” rather than “the fresh food people” in light of them owning eleven thousand poker machines as part of their seventy five percent share of hotel and poker machine operator ALH Group.Xenophon and GetUp director Simon Sheikh – along with six people impacted by poker machine addiction – took to today’s AGM to ask Woolworths Chairman James Strong about his company’s role in poker machine reform.
