Althought the House is sitting at 38% of women representatives, this is the highest it has ever been.  In the Senate women are in the majority with 57%.  This is a big change over the years, but many have felt that there hasn’t been much change in the tone and behaviour in parliament with epithets, vitriol and point scoring still at traditional highs.

Staffers are now more likely to be women, and the press gallery has seen a major change in favour of women as well.   The current President is Jane Norman, and the National Press Club President is Laura Tingle.
